BE STRONG
IN THE LORD

Only the strong in the Lord can prevail with God and man in life, and especially in his generation. No man can fulfill his divine destiny without relying on the strength of Lord Jesus.

BE STRONG IN THE LORD
It is not as though there could be any time when you should not be strong in the Lord, the truth is some trying times demand extra strength.
Therefore, if there ever was such a time to be strong in the Lord, it is now.
For anyone to do otherwise, is to succumb to weakness or faintness in times of adversity, which makes one easy prey to the predators at large.
Thus, only the strong in the Lord can prevail with God and man in life, especially in an ungodly generation.
And that means, the only way to fulfill your destiny in times like these, is by tapping into the strength of the Lord Jesus.
Hence, this book will help you a long way to say no to weakness and move on to excel on your journey of strength in the Lord.
Then and only then can the weak say, I am strong in the Lord.
On that note, we shall consider the following headings:
A. REASONS TO BE STRONG IN THE LORD
E.G., The more focus you give to the benefits of acquiring the right qualifications in life, the easier and faster you get them.
Thus, strength is:
- A requirement for exploits.
- Indispensable for leadership, whether you lead from up or down.
- Engaged to succeed in kingdom business and for excellence in life and ministry.
- One most vital prerequisite for outstanding performances;
- Required to maintain diligence.
- For boldness, which is an attribute of the Lord Jesus, and hence, the righteous.
- It then means only those who know or are prepared to know God can be strong in the Lord.
Put on the whole armor of God and get renewed by waiting upon the Lord.
Strength transforms to the likeness of an eagle, by enabling one to mount up with wings as eagles, to run and not be weary and to walk and not faint.
Therefore, anyone who stays down does so of his or her volition (being informed by his or her ignorance)
B. IN THE LORD, YOU ENJOY DELIVERANCE
Shall the prey be taken from the mighty or the lawful captive delivered? But thus saith the Lord, Even the captives of the mighty shall be taken away, and the prey of the terrible shall be delivered: for I will contend with him that contendeth with thee, and I will save thy children.3-Isaiah 49:24-25
If I understand the claim of: “for I am thy God.” then I can boldly say:
For the Lord God will help me; therefore shall I not be confounded: therefore have I set my face like a flint, and I know that I shall not be ashamed. He is near that justifieth me; who will contend with me? let us stand together: who is my adversary? let him come near to me. Behold, the Lord God will help me; who is he that shall condemn me? lo, they all shall wax old as a garment; the moth shall eat them up. Isaiah 50:7-9
It is good to know that God has promised, and He will never fail. That means He has you covered. Little wonder, His banner over us is love. Consequently, if there is anything to be sure of, it is that the Lord will come to your rescue right on time, as long as you stay strong in Him. I.E., rooted and grounded in the word, exercising faith, ceaseless prayers, etc.
In this case, it is clear that no one needs much persuasion to understand the need to stay strong in the Lord. And, by the grace of God, staying strong in the Lord is what you must continue to do.
C. SEASONS OF STRENGTH IN THE LORD
As the topic implies, there are seasons to be strong in the Lord, and it is all the seasons of life.
You should remain strong in the Lord at all times, but that is only if you are already strong in Him, or prepared to be. After that, you can only improve on it and wax stronger.
Whereas it is impossible to maintain what you do not have, it is easy to do so with what you have. Glory To God.
In other words, you first must be strong, before you can remain strong, and even get stronger.
Hence, the question now is, are you ‘strong in the Lord?’
If yes, Congratulations. That means you are observing the admonition of:
1 Corinthians 15:58 Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye steadfast, unmoveable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labour is not in vain in the Lord.
From the above scriptures, it is clear that you should always abound in the work of the Lord. That means you should wax stronger in Him; which is only possible when you are already strong in the Lord.
PRAYER: MAY YOU OBTAIN GRACE TO STAY STRONG IN THE LORD AT ALL SEASONS. AMEN.
Next, let us consider the reassurance of the statement, ‘For I am thy God’; It means, among many things, that you have my strength always at your disposal, such that you do not need to worry or get anxious in life. Now, is that not so comforting and liberating? Of course, it speaks of blessedness.
However, you must learn to play your part well, and God will do the rest.
Hence, the need to consider the next subheading:
D. TO GET STRENGTH, WAIT UPON THE LORD
1- Isaiah 40:31; 2- 1 Samuel 2:9
But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength;
they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary, and they shall walk, and not faint.1
He will keep the feet of his saints,
and the wicked shall be silent in darkness;
for by strength shall no man prevail.2
The above scriptures also suggest that some people who trust in their strength, fail to wait upon the Lord. And as such, they do not renew their strength. Such failure only gives invitations to weakness. No man can depend upon himself to sail through life victoriously.
Waiting upon the Lord is a strategy for renewal of strength, to reap bountiful rewards. It is only by waiting upon the Lord, your maker that you can make it in life, no matter your area of calling.
Hence, under the next heading, the following highlights speak of:
E. THE PROMISE FOR THE STRONG
- Renewal of strength is one of the promises which awaits those who wait upon the Lord.
- They shall mount up with wings as eagles, and no more as chicken, which can only fly a limited distance.
- To say they shall run and not be weary means they would wax stronger.
- They shall walk and not faint, though men watch out for their fall, hoping they would suddenly faint, etc.
However, the fact that one is waiting for something to happen does not permit any form of idleness. Therefore, amid a busy schedule, is when you should wait upon the Lord, enjoying God’s sufficient grace, presence, power, and glory.
Above all, to stay idle is to welcome despair, anxiety, frustration, commotion and confusion, stagnation, etc. And hence, it completely negates grace.
Thus, waiting on the Lord means, removing all your expectations from yourself, and man (whether their help is forthcoming or not), and shifting your gaze onto God. It could be a father, mother, husband, brother or sister, etc., they would only agree to help when God chooses to use them.
By so doing, it would not then matter so much, who chooses to disappoint you or fulfill some promises made. All glory, then, would always return to God, either way.
Prayer: May the grace of God locate you, enable you to be strong, and continue to wax even stronger in the Lord. In Jesus’ Name. Amen.
