AMAZING GRACE OF GOD: THE CHOICE TO MAKE

The caption, God’s Amazing Grace, implies that the Grace of God is Amazing.

For example, it was difficult for his parents to accept that Samson, a Nazarite from the mother’s womb, chose to neglect the grace of God. Hence, that prompted them to ask him some questions:

Judges 14:3 Then his father and his mother said unto him, Is there never a woman among the daughters of thy brethren, or among all my people, that thou goest to take a wife of the uncircumcised Philistines? And Samson said unto his father, Get her for me; for she pleases me well.

You could also apply the above passage to your choice of job, location, friends, relationships, etc. You need the Grace of God to make the right choices.

GOD’S AMAZING GRACE IS AVAILABLE

Hebrews 4:16

Let us, therefore, come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.

Since you can only appropriate the things you possess, you should obtain grace to help in time of need. Therefore, receive mercy today, so you will find the grace of God you need in life.

Well, Samson’s parents asked him the question, which you too can adapt to your situation.

Are you in any way settling for an ungodly business, job, etc., for the fact that you cannot find a godly alternative or what? Have you allowed yourself to fall victim to the get-rich-quick syndrome?

As for Samson, all he cared about there and then was that Delilah pleased him well so that he left the Grace of God out of the picture.

SECURE THE WONDER OF AMAZING GRACE

To waste your time of grace is to miss the work of Amazing Grace in your life.

The following points will further enlighten you.

  1. Samson, the deliverer, wasted his anointing, and hence, the Grace of God, on Delilah, a Philistine harlot. He chose to pursue his pleasure rather than God’s. We should seek God’s pleasure. Everyone is alive to fulfill the purpose of pleasing God; Hence, His grace is made available to all.
  2. As though it was not bad enough that he had opted to choose a heathen woman, Samson further made matters worse by hand-picking a harlot. He did not mind how frustrated his parents felt about his ungodly choice.
  3. Are you now in the business of frustrating your parents and loved ones because of your relationship with some strange fellow? Why do you care less over those who care so much for you? You do so against the Grace of God by which you should honour them.
  4. No matter how well something pleases you, it will not please God, when it is contrary to His will for your life. This is more so because He sees the end from the beginning and vice versa.

GRACE MANIFESTS BY OBEDIENCE TO GOD

E.G., Samson’s choice of Delilah as a wife was not the result of ignorance concerning the mind of God, but of flagrant disobedience. And which, was borne of spiritual weakness, self-indulgence, lust, carelessness, the spirit of the unequal yoke, deceit, evil set-up, etc. And these all summed up together to frustrate the Grace of God in his life.

Some great lessons here are:

  1. No one should fix his gaze on the forbidden fruit, such as Delilah.
  2. Do not play around with what you should avoid.
  3. Avoid sin with all that connects it, by prayerfully engaging the Grace of God.
  4. To miss out on what the Lord can help you achieve is a waste of divine grace. There is sufficient grace available for your salvation and godly living at all times, so do not waste it.
  5. Your obedience multiplies the grace of God upon your life, to work amazing things for you.
  6. You can and should live in obedience.
  7. Victory in Christ is only sure for the obedient child of God.

STOP NEGLECTING GOD’S GRACE

  1. Your failure to overcome in life and ministry is due to your neglect of the Amazing Grace of God.
  2. Thank God the story does not have to end with defeat because Jesus has paid the price for sin. You, however, should know you are bought with a price and say goodbye to sinfulness.
  3. Repent and be saved by grace today while you still have the chance. Matthew 4:17 From that time Jesus began to preach, and to say, Repent: for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.

EMPLOY GOD’S GRACE

Moses returned to the place of his assignment in Egypt because the Grace of God was at work in him. Exodus 4:20 And Moses took his wife and his sons and set them upon an ass, and he returned to the land of Egypt: and Moses took the rod of God in his hand. This shows that the earlier you learned to mean business with God, the better you can enjoy His grace.

  1. Thus, well-defined cross-roads exist for the godly; And blessings abound around the right choices made. Deuteronomy 28:13 And the Lord shall make thee the head, and not the tail; thou shalt be above only, and thou shalt not be beneath; if that thou hearkens unto the commandments of the Lord thy God, which I command thee this day, to observe and to do them:
  2. Also, there are more than enough curses around the wrong choices, which abort the efforts of Amazing Grace in a life. Deuteronomy 28:15 But it shall come to pass, if thou wilt not hearken unto the voice of the Lord thy God, to observe to do all his commandments and his statutes which I command thee this day; that all these curses shall come upon thee, and overtake thee:
  3. Thus, the Grace of God enables your obedience to God, and it marks the big difference between reaping divine blessings and incurring curses upon your life.

REPENTANCE: A FIRST STEP TOWARDS AMAZING GRACE

  1.  Thanks to the Grace of God, there is room enough for a turnaround through repentance. 1 John 1:9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
  2. The communion table is available for your reconciliation and restoration to God.  1 Corinthians 11:24
And when he had given thanks, he brake it, and said, Take, eat: this is my body, which is broken for you: this do in remembrance of me.
2 Corinthians 13:14a The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the communion of the Holy Ghost, be with you all. Amen.
  3. The blood of Jesus furnishes your new life; The bread completes your healing and health. And the communion serves as a reminder that Christ died for the ungodly.
  4. He came to purchase, promote, provide peace, and prepare us for eternity with him; Ephesians 3:11 According to the eternal purpose which he purposed in Christ Jesus our Lord:
  5. To whoever you give much, you expect much from. Luke 12:48 But he that knew not, and did commit things worthy of stripes, shall be beaten with few stripes. For unto whomsoever much is given, of him shall be much required: and to whom men have committed much, of him they will ask the more.
  6. I am anointed to preach the gospel of Christ. Isaiah 61:1 The Spirit of the Lord God is upon me; because the Lord hath anointed me to preach good tidings unto the meek; he hath sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to them that are bound.

THE DIVINE PURPOSE OF GOD’S GRACE

  • The above scripture says the spirit of the Lord is upon me for a purpose; hence, it is not by chance. Acts 26:16 But rise and stand upon thy feet: for I have appeared unto thee for this purpose, to make thee a minister and a witness both of these things which thou hast seen, and of those things in the which I will appear unto thee.
  • It has to be so because the Lord has anointed me to serve in his vineyard. Thus, the Lord has anointed me to preach the good news of salvation and its benefits to the meek. Jude 1:3 Beloved, when I gave all diligence to write unto you of the common salvation, it was needful for me to write unto you, and exhort you that ye should earnestly contend for the faith which was once delivered unto the saints. The faith the saint exercises is a direct benefit of salvation.
  • The Lord has sent me to heal the brokenhearted, and not to ignore them or break more hearts; Psalms 69:20 Reproach hath broken my heart, and I am full of heaviness: and I looked for some to take pity, but there was none, and for comforters, but I found none.

ENJOYING FREEDOM BY HIS GRACE

  • The Grace of God empowers me to announce freedom to those held captive by the devil, and not just to sympathize with them; Genesis 14:14 And when Abram heard that his brother was taken captive, he armed his trained servants, born in his own house, three hundred and eighteen, and pursued them unto Dan.
  • 2 Chronicles 6:37 Yet if they bethink themselves in the land whither, they are carried captive, and turn and pray unto thee in the land of their captivity, saying, we have sinned, we have done amiss, and have dealt wickedly. Likewise, pray yourself out of your captivity by repenting of your sins.
  • And I am mandated by His anointing of Grace to open the prison doors to those in bondage and not contribute to their bondage. Exodus 1:14 And they made their lives bitter with hard bondage, in mortar, and in brick, and in all manner of service in the field: all their service, wherein they made them serve, was with rigor
  • Hebrews 2:15 And deliver them who through fear of death were all their lifetime subject to bondage. The preaching of the word of God will deliver from the bondage of fear by the anointing of the Grace of God.
